A fascinating tour into the world of titiwai, New Zealand's glow worms, in Wellington Botanic Garden ki Paekākā. This outdoor night-time tour takes about an hour, and all are welcome to join. If bringing children, it is most suitable for those aged 7 years and older.

Meet at the Founders’ entrance to Wellington Botanic Garden ki Paekākā on Glenmore Street. Please bring your ticket, a torch, and an umbrella if it’s raining.

This Friday night tour is operated by the Friends of Wellington Botanic Garden and runs twice a night, starting 7pm or 8pm.

Dates: 11 April, 2 & 23 May, 20 June, 25 July, 22 August and 19 September.

Please note: The tour still runs if raining and no transfers or refunds are given due to weather unless it is cancelled due to dangerous conditions.

The glow-worm larva is suspended in its hammock-like mucous tube. This glow-worm lives in a bush habitat and its lines are very short – about 20-30 mm in length.
