The new Prime Minister's Space Prizes are now open for applications

The Government has introduced these two new prizes to recognise the talented people working in New Zealand’s space and emerging aviation sectors and to inspire young people to pursue a career in these sectors.

New Zealand has a growing reputation as a high-value partner for space missions and research. I am excited to announce these prizes which will help foster talent, which plays an important role in the ongoing success of our space economy

The space industry in Aotearoa

Aotearoa New Zealand has a fast-growing space sector. There are over 5,000 people directly involved in the space industry! Hear about the sector from some of the experts who work in it.

The Prime Minister’s Space Prize for Professional Excellence

For a professional working in the space sector and/or emerging aviation sector, recognising their outstanding achievements and contribution to the sector, worth $100,000.

The Prime Minister’s Space Prize for Student Endeavour

For a year 12 or 13 student who is undertaking or has recently completed a science, technology or engineering project related to the space sector and/or emerging aviation sector, worth $50,000.
