Lunar eclipse

Using different camera exposures, 1/80, 2/5 and 2 seconds, the two regions of a lunar eclipse can be seen. The outer penumbral shadow is where the sunlight is dimmed and the inner umbral shadow is where the much dimmer sunlight can be seen as a red colour as it reflects through the Earth’s atmosphere.

The Wellington Astronomical Society will be providing telescopes for public viewings.

Suitable for all ages. Donations appreciated.

Location: Outside Space Place, 40 Salamanca Rd, Kelburn, Wellington. Donations appreciated

Weather permitting. In the case of poor weather, the event will be cancelled. Check SpacePlace and/or the Wellington Museum's websites and socials for updates.
