The aim for 2024 is to make teachers aware of the need to check on safety when carrying out any activities in Science classes. New Zealand Association of Primary Science Educators (NZAPSE) runs Primmary Science Week each year.

NZAPSE continue to encourage all teachers to do practical work with their students. To ensure you and your students are always safe, NZAPSE have produced a Risk Assessment document, which will be made available at the start of 2024. This works alongside the offical Safety in Science document for schools.

The goal – continue working in Science and be safe while you do it.

Science Week Activities

NZAPSE are in the process of organising webinars for teachers and students, to increase their awareness of safety in school Science. Keep an eye out on the NZAPSE website for more information as it becomes available. They are also hoping to include a method for accepting questions and providing answers around Safety in Science. They will keep you updated on this, so if you have any questions please send them in.
