The 2024 Bird Conference Bird Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Birds New Zealand will be held in Nelson, from 1 to 3 June. The conference will comprise 3 days filled with fascinating scientific presentations focusing on the study and enjoyment of birds. You can also take part in one or more of the exciting field trip options.

Takahē (Porphyrio hochstetteri)

The takahē is a flightless land bird endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand. This is Bargie (male bird on left) and Ihi, a courting pair photographed on Kāpiti Island in 2016.
