Join Otago Museum for an exciting talk with Deb Kane. This year is special as we celebrate the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development.

This talk will observe these UNESCO initiatives while celebrating and explaining examples of light and colour in the natural world. From phenomenal rainbows to colour displays on spider orb webs, Deb will take you on a dazzling display of light and colour while discussing her extensive physics research.

Visible light

Visible light waves are the only electromagnetic waves we can see. We see these waves as the colours of the rainbow. Each colour has a different wavelength. Red has the longest wavelength, and violet has the shortest wavelength. When all the waves are seen together, they make white light.
