Join Greta Dromgool and Alex Daniel from the Waikato Regional Council in a free webinar which will take a hands-on look at fresh water monitoring.

Exploring our urban and rural waterways is a fantastic way to get students engaged in the world around them while developing their science capabilities.

In this session you will be guided on how to support students to use a variety of water quality indicators to gather data about a local stream. Resources showing step-by-step instructions, protocols, recording sheets and how-to videos for monitoring stream health will be shared.

Stream health monitoring offers opportunities for cross-curricular learning and action. The webinar will also provide information about curriculum links, pedagogy and resources to support your teaching and learning programme.

This session will be valuable for both primary and secondary school teachers.

I just want to thank you for the resources you've put up on water testing. My students were able to write a comprehensive report as a follow up to our stream study on camp because you had a video available on every parameter measured in a stream study. The videos were invaluable in helping my students.

Related content

Rivers and Us is a Waikato Regional Council (WRC) initiative to help teachers, students and communities investigate the water in their local area. It explores how people use water and the effects of these uses on water quality.

The Hub hosts a wide range of related content. Rivers and Us – introduction and Rivers and Us – a context for learning are great places to start exploring.
